The expansion at Disney adds 5,000 jobs

The Walt Disney Co. has added 5,000 new workers in Anaheim in the past year as part of its major park expansion – easily securing the company's spot as the county's largest employer.

Disney now has 25,000 Anaheim workers at its two local theme parks, three hotels, the Downtown Disney shopping-entertainment district and a nearby warehouse.

Before the June debut of that area, Disney had added 3,000 jobs – half of them full time, in preparation for the new features. But Disney found that it needed even more employees to accommodate longer operating hours and the record number of visitors at Disney California Adventure, Brown said. Most of the new employees work directly with visitors.
