Watch FULL EPISODES NOW!

About ONCE UPON A TIME

This is Fairy Tale Land. It's filled with magic, monsters and all of the characters we all know from stories growing up. It's real, and so are the people in it. But unlike the "happily ever after" you may have heard about, their stories continued, and The Evil Queen cast a Dark Curse over the land....

This is Storybrooke. It's a quiet, little, New England town filled with people who go about their everyday lives with no idea who they really are. The Queen's Curse has trapped them here and placed her in near-complete control. They have no real memories and no real hope.

Once Upon A Time is, at its core, a story about hope.

"For us, that’s what a fairy tale is. It’s that ability to think your life will get better. It’s why you buy a lottery ticket—because if you win you get to tell your boss that you’re quitting and you get to move to Paris or wherever and be who you always wanted to be. And that’s Cinderella, right? One day she’s sweeping up and the next she’s going to the ball. Adam and I just wanted to write about something hopeful that for one hour a week allows one to put everything aside and have that feeling that your dreams just may come true."
- Edward Kitsis, Co-Creator/Executive Producer

Entertainment Stocks Outperform Broader Markets Through Three Quarters

As of Friday, the most valuable conglomerate is Comcast with a market capitalization of $95.7 billion. Second is Disney ($93.8 billion), followed by News Corp. ($58.7 billion), Time Warner ($43 billion), Viacom ($27.6 billion), CBS ($23.3 billion) and Sony ($11.7 billion).

The valuations still significantly lag the two primary tech-centric media companies: Apple has risen 65 percent through the first three quarters and sports a market cap of $625.4 billion while Google has risen 16.8 percent and has a market cap of $246.8 billion.

One question some on Wall Street are now asking is whether there is more room for growth in Hollywood conglomerate stocks and which ones have the most upside.

Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) has been reiterated by TheStreet Ratings as a buy with a ratings score of A+ . "Marvel's - Captain America: Winter Soldier" Set to Film in Ohio This February

Chris Evans plays Captain America. Scene from "Marvel's - The Avengers" Photo by Marvel/Disney.

Taking advantage of the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit program to film scenes for Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the state.

Movie crews will film over about 150 days at locations in northeast and southern Ohio, the state said, bringing an estimated 2,778 jobs tied to the production. The work is expected to generate an economic impact of $35 million, the Ohio Development Services Agency’s Film Office said. That should result in $9.5 million in tax credits returned to the producers.

Filming in Ohio is expected to begin in February, with a release date for the movie in spring 2014.
Marvel Studios, a unit of the Walt Disney Co., (NYSE:DIS), used state tax credits when filming The Avengers in downtown Cleveland in summer 2011. That movie capped a string of hits in recent years for the studio, including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.

A Cleveland State University study this year on the economic impact of the motion picture tax credits found more than 9,000 jobs and $19.5 million in wages resulted from 27 projects that took advantage of the tax credit since its introduction in 2009, although little of that reached Central Ohio.

Walt Disney Studio’s Disneynature Unveils "Bears" Roaring into Theaters Spring 2014

DISNEYNATURE IS WILD ABOUT “BEARS” -- Cinematographer Warwick Sloss films two brown bears as they graze in the meadows of Katmai National Park , Alaska. The stunning imagery is being captured for Disneynature¹s 2014 motion picture release “Bears,” directed by Keith Scholey (“African Cats”) and Alastair Fothergill (“Earth,” “African Cats” and “Chimpanzee”).
The future looks wild, as the Walt Disney Studio’s Disneynature label unveils its new film slated for the big screen in Spring 2014.

Disneynature’s 2014 motion picture “Bears” cozies up to the brown bears who call Alaska’s stunning coastal mountains and shores their home, revealing through tender moments and entertaining imagery how these animals are far from grizzly creatures. This shooting location provides some of the most spectacular visuals ever for a Disneynature film. The film is directed by Keith Scholey (“African Cats”) and Alastair Fothergill (“Earth,” “African Cats” and “Chimpanzee”).

“Our commitment to the production of Disneynature films is to capture nature on its own terms and its own schedule. These films are never rushed so that we can tell never-before-seen stories in our natural world that both astound and charm audiences,” said Alan Bergman, president, The Walt Disney Studios. “Disneynature's next adventure 'Bears' promises to continue this storytelling tradition by introducing audiences to a phenomenal variety of wildlife and offering rare glimpses into the day-to-day lives of these incredible animals.”

“Bears” is currently in production in Alaska’s Katmai National Park.

ABOUT DISNEYNATURE
Disneynature was launched in April 2008. Its mission is to bring the world’s top nature filmmakers together to share a wide variety of wildlife stories on the big screen in order to engage, inspire and educate theatrical audiences everywhere. Walt Disney was a pioneer in wildlife filmmaking, producing 13 True-Life Adventure motion pictures between 1948 and 1960, which earned eight Academy Awards®. The first four Disneynature films, “Earth,” “Oceans,” “African Cats” and “Chimpanzee,” are four of the top five highest overall grossing feature-length nature films to date, with “Chimpanzee” garnering a record-breaking opening weekend for the genre. Disney’s commitment to conservation is a key pillar of the label and Disneynature films empower the audience to help make a difference. Through donations tied to opening-week attendance for all four films, Disneynature, through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, has planted three million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, established 40,000 acres of marine protected area in The Bahamas, protected 65,000 acres of savanna in Kenya, protected 129,236 acres of wild chimpanzee habitat, educated 60,000 school children about chimpanzee conservation and cared for chimpanzees. For more information about Disneynature, like us on Facebook: facebook.com/Disneynature and follow us on Twitter: twitter.com/Disneynature.

Earn $5 Rebate When You Buy Disney-Pixar's "BRAVE" and Cargill's Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms Turkey This Thanksgiving

In a first-of-its-type marketing program for Cargill's Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey brands, the company created a nationwide holiday season promotional tie-in campaign with Walt Disney Studios to celebrate the November 13 release of the Blu-ray™, hi-definition version of Disney-Pixar's "BRAVE," the year's #1 animated movie.Designed to increase awareness, influence decision making and inspire purchases, the campaign will utilize an array of traditional and new media marketing tools to reach 25- to 54-year-olds who buy and prepare food during the holiday season.

During the promotional period, from November 1, 2012, to January 5, 2013, consumers who buy any Honeysuckle White or Shady Brook Farms turkey product, and a "BRAVE" Blu-ray combo pack, are eligible for a $5.00 mail-in rebate.

"We're pulling out all the stops to heighten the excitement for families this holiday season by providing them with added value from leveraging the collaborative power of the Disney-Pixar and Cargill brands in new and creative ways," said Mary Richardson, marketing manager of fresh turkey for Cargill Value Added Meats - Retail.  "We conducted a substantial amount of research to determine the most effective ways to communicate with consumers responsible for holiday meals at home, and the result is that we're deploying an array of tools ranging from traditional print advertising; 10-second television commercial spots on NBC, CBS and FOX; radio spots; in-store television and radio and point-of-sale materials such as shelf talkers, floor graphics, wobblers and backerboards; to a fully integrated digital program using Quick Response (QR) codes; mobile device applications;  web sites and social media, with the bulk of our efforts hitting in November."

Cargill's research with core whole-bird turkey consumers also examined the way in which consumers select turkeys for holiday meal preparation.  One of the eye-opening discoveries is the widespread and growing use of smart phones by consumers who use them to gather information about products, promotions, pricing, menus and other relevant data that influences brand awareness, purchase intent and, ultimately, the buying of turkey products.

"We found the use of smart phones for buying holiday turkeys skyrocketed from approximately 8 percent in 2010 to more than 70 percent in 2012.  We know consumers use smart phones for many purposes, and they now use them more frequently to scan barcodes and search for products they see in television advertisements," explained Richardson.  "We recognized this as an opportunity and developed elements of our promotional plan to reach consumers via their smart phones, through which we'll also integrate our promotion of Disney-Pixar's "BRAVE."

An original and thrilling journey set in the ancient and magical Highlands of Scotland, "BRAVE" follows the heroic journey of the headstrong, young adventurer Merida.  Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida confronts tradition and defies an age-old custom that inadvertently unleashes chaos, and forces her to discover the true meaning of bravery.  Coming November 13 on Blu-ray, the 5-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition includes hours of all-new bonus material, extraordinary behind the scenes features, extended and deleted scenes and a mysterious and exciting new short film, "The Legend of Mor'du."

"Turkey is a traditional, delicious and nutritional protein associated with the holiday season in America, and so is watching movies with the entire family.  For 2012, our goal is to make this special time enjoyable and memorable for families throughout the nation," concluded Richardson.

Walt Disney Records Presents "Frankenweenie" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Available Now

Walt Disney Records released the original motion picture soundtrack for Frankenweenie on Sept. 25, 2012.

Danny Elfman composed the original score – his 15th collaboration with writer/director Tim Burton.
Frankenweenie follows in the footsteps of Tim Burton's other stop-motion animated films Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas—both of which featured music by Danny Elfman.    "It's something that takes me back to The Nightmare Before Christmas, which also had a very simple story," said Elfman. "It's very pure Tim and very uniquely Tim in that regard—the look and the feel of it and it's great to be able to frolic in that realm."

From the opening scene and the first cue on the soundtrack, Elfman's "Frankenweenie Disney Logo," it's clear that Frankenweenie is not your usual story about a boy and his dog.  Several of the characters we are introduced to in the film, for example Victor, Elsa Van Helsing and Edgar "E" Gore were inspired by classic horror films. "Frankenweenie is very sweet but then there's this monster movie side of it that I really got to tap into my own roots as a life-long fan of that genre," said Elfman.

Elfman's score, like the story, starts out light and carefree, but then reflects the dark turn taken when Victor loses his beloved dog, and friend, Sparky.  The depth and expressiveness of the track "Re-Animation" initially recalls both the ego and excitement of past movie attempts to animate those who have gone before, but then ends with the tender reunion of boy and dog.  Elfman's score alternates between the dark elements of Burton's re-imagination of the Frankenstein mythos and the quirky adventures of a boy and his Frankenweenie.

"There's a theme for Victor and his relationship with his dog and then there's actually a theme for Sparky himself," Elfman described.  "Sparky's theme is more playful, as dogs are. Victor's theme is a little sadder because it's more about how much he loves and misses Sparky. It is ultimately a story about a boy and his dog and there's almost nothing purer than that."

For more than 25 years, Burton and Elfman have collaborated on some of the cinema's most beloved and recognizable films and soundtracks, including Big Fish, for which Elfman received an Oscar® nomination; Beetlejuice; Batman; Edward Scissorhands; Sleepy Hollow; Corpse Bride; and, more recently, Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows.

Elfman has also received Oscar® nominations for his scores for Barry Sonnenfeld's Men in Black, and Gus Van Sant's Good Will Hunting and Milk.  Movie audiences worldwide have also heard Danny Elfman's unique sound and style in 80 film scores, including Sam Raimi's Spider-Man; Brian De Palma's Mission: Impossible; Martin Brest's Midnight Run; Jon Amiel's Sommersby; the Hughes Brothers' Dead Presidents; Rob Marshall's Academy Award-winning Chicago; and Shawn Levy's Real Steel.

From creative genius Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland," The Nightmare Before Christmas") comes "Frankenweenie," a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. Hetries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.
A stop-motion animated film, "Frankenweenie" was filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D. The talented voice cast includes: Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder.

Presented by Disney, "Frankenweenie" is directed by Tim Burton, produced by Tim Burton and Allison Abbate, from a screenplay by John August, based on a screenplay by Lenny Ripps, based on an original idea by Tim Burton. "Frankenweenie" releases in U.S. theaters on October 5, 2012.

Legendary Action Producer Joel Silver Out At Warner Bros.

Joel Silver‘s producing resume reads like a laundry list of the best (or at least biggest) action films of the past three decades: Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours, Predator, Demolition Man, The Matrix, Sherlock Holmes and on and on. Many of those, especially over the past twenty years, were at Warner Bros. where his Silver Pictures had a lucrative producing deal and spot on the lot. Rumors had been circulating that Silver (above right, with director Todd Phillips) might be parting ways with the studio. Monday, Variety reported Warner Bros. will be paying the producer $30 million for the rights to all the films he produced at the studio, finally severing ties that go back 25 years. He’ll obviously still be producing, just not from the Warner Bros. lot. In fact, he might already have a new deal at Universal.

Of course, Silver now gives up the rights to all of his films at the studio, won’t get any more money from them and is free to move elsewhere. Reports are he might already have a deal at Universal, which would be for five years and at least 12 movies.
