‘Star Wars’ 3D prequels delayed indefinitely

The dawn of the J.J. Abrams era in "Star Wars" history will eclipse Disney's previous plans to re-release two previous installments of the saga in 3D. That's right. The long-planned 3D re-releases of "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith" have been delayed.

In an official statement posted on the franchise's official website, Disney announced that, "Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new Star Wars trilogy, we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on 'Star Wars: Episode VII' in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans." Disney also stated, "We will post further information about our 3D release plans at a later date."

Plans for the subsequent two entries in the prequel trilogy still exist, but those releases will be at an undetermined future point, following work on "Episode VII."

"Star Wars: Episode VII" is still tentatively scheduled for 2015, although J.J. Abrams has yet to officially commit to that date.
