Disney Ambassador's from Around the World are Training in the USA

Our training in California took us to Glendale, 1401 Flower Street. This is the mythical address of the creative campus of the Walt Disney Imagineering. It’s a truly unique place where the future of our Disney destinations is shaping up every single day. We had the privilege to set foot in the place where classics such as Pirates of the Caribbean or Space Mountain have been created, or more recently New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom and Toy Story Playland in Disneyland Paris.

An impressive amount of jobs and talents are concentrated here: Creative artists, architects, model artists, show writers… The campus is an incredible location where everything is put together to encourage creativity. The statue of Sorcerer Mickey, icon of Walt Disney Imagineering, greeted us on arrival.
We started our tour with the archives, where all the original concept-arts from 1955 until now are filed in huge safes. We are in awe when able to witness some original artwork close up: the murals from Haunted Mansion’s stretching rooms, the original artwork by Herbert Ryman presenting the Disneyland project or the concept art for our Ch√Ęteau de la Belle au Bois Dormant. It’s time to enter the room where pieces from audio-animatronics are stored. We met the very first audio-animatronic from The Enchanted Tiki Room and one of the most recent, Captain Jack Sparrow and a very lifelike moulding of Johnny Depp’s face. We were also very “lucky” to get a close encounter with... Lucky the Dinosaur, one of the latest technological marvels from this cave of wonders.

We then attended several presentations about the future of our Disney Parks and Resorts where we learnt a lot of fascinating things. We had the privilege to share lunch with the legendary Tony Baxter. An unforgettable moment where the Imagineer, who was the creative lead for Euro Disneyland in the 90’s, shared a lots of anecdotes and memories from his incredible career. He supervised the creation of Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain and many more!
We head next to a large warehouse where all the models for the future projects are built. An incredible building where we had the opportunity to take a very close look to the forthcoming events that will make Disney Parks & Resorts history in the following years. Admiring those models took us back to our childhood memories and we could have spent the whole day there.

As a huge Disney destinations fan, taking a tour of this mythical place was like dreaming with our eyes open. Visiting Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during the week was an experience enhanced by the presentations and the stories the Imagineers shared with us. All the details like the incredible rockwork in Cars Land, the audio-animatronics and the projections on the characters of Radiator Springs Racers, the meticulous reproduction of Los Angeles from the 1920’s in Buena Vista Street or the amazing technological marvels of The World of Color nightime spectacular. The work of all our Imagineers to serve the stories in our Parks and Resorts around the globe is the key to our Guest experiences, and we were lucky enough to witness these artists at work.
