Ghost Rider, Blade and The Punisher Movie Rights Return to Marvel Studios

Last week we reported that Daredevil film rights switched hands from FOX back to Marvel Studios and we have just learned that Ghost Rider, Blade and The Punisher have also made their way back into the hands of the House of Ideas movie arm. Even though that is great news to Marvel fans worldwide I wouldn't hold my breath regarding their appearance in the next phase of Marvel's Cinematic Universe/Avengers plans.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige, said, “Whenever a character comes back to us, it's usually because the other studios don't want to make the movies anymore - and that usually means the [previous] movies may not have been particularly well received," Feige said. "They all have potential, but we're not going to say, 'We got it back - make it!'"

It may be nice to have references in future movies as a subtle nod to fans but it may  be prudent for the studio to distance themselves from those other films for the time being. I can't say that I'm chomping at the bit for a new Electra movie anytime soon. It may be possible for Marvel Studios to create television series regarding these heroes giving them a fresh start. Perhaps making appearances in the S.H.I.E.L.D. tv series. What would you like to see them do with those characters?
