Disney announces Pixar one-two punch 'Incredibles' and 'Cars' sequels

During a recent meeting in front of shareholders and D23 Members at the company’s annual meeting in Portland, Oregon, Disney Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger announced that Pixar Animation Studios is working on new feature-length sequels from "Cars" and "The Incredibles."

These films are sure to make Disney fans extremely happy but also will pad the wallet of the House of Mouse as well. Both film franchises have done well at the box office, with "The Incredibles" grossing over 630 million worldwide. With the recent superhero films from sister company Marvel Studios doing earth-shattering numbers bringing superhero films into the forefront of pop-culture you can expect the next Incredibles movie to bring some of that Marvel sensibility to the realm of Pixar.

I can totally see Disney creating it's own superhero universe within the realm of the Pixar established universe where everything is connected. Can you imagine the family of Incredibles growing an Avengers type of team to combat a world threat like an alien invasion? The toy line would be... er... incredible!

In terms of Cars the franchise is currently comprised of two feature films grossing nearly $400,000,000 worldwide. They have also launched a spin-off film series called Planes. The big money with this franchise is the merchandising which has grossed over $10 billion for Disney. In the voice of Cars character Mater, voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, "I don't care who you are but that is impressive!"

What would you like to see in terms of the sequels? Please post your replies below.
